Hallelujah Prayer

Last year, after being hired close to the end of the first quarter of the school year, I suddenly faced the possibility of being fired.

I did not hear about it until the night of the School Board Meeting, (a month before the school year ends). The Assistant Superintendent of Schools called me to let me know that my dismissal was one of the agenda items. She told me the classroom was chaotic and I did not seem to have control of it in any way. She wanted to know what she could say to the board that would be in my favor.

Normally, I would cut off my nose to spite my face. But on this evening, the Lord spoke for me so I said, "I would like to have a second chance. You spent a day teaching the same children and talked about your ineffectiveness. The principal's room was not any better. You have been to the school several times and it was the same complaint every time." I even asked for help and did not get any until a month before school ended.

After that conversation, I walked out of the school building that evening with a heavy heart, but was still beseeching the Throne of Grace like crazy. I texted my Prayer Team and asked them to pray for me, without giving any details. Thank you, Prayer Team!

Around 9PM that night, I received another call from the Assistant Superintendent. The first words out of her mouth were - "You have to be one praying woman." My response was, "That's the only thing I know." Then she told me, my contract was renewed for the following school year. I yelled, "Hallelujah JESUS." He did it again! "He made rivers of water in the desert and a road in the wildeness" (Isaiah 43:19).

As one of my favorite choruses goes - "When I think of the goodness of Jesus and ALL He has done for me, my soul cries out HALLELUJAH. Thank God for saving me.
