"Turn Your High Beams On"
- PRAYER SAVED MY LIFE

As dusk began to fall, we edged closer to home. Although darkness was all around us, there was no fear or anxiety because we've driven this road many times over the years. We eagerly anticipated getting home and finally relaxing. As we crossed the town line, I heard a voice say, "Turn your high beams on." I did so without hesitation while telling my daughter, "God just told me to turn my high beams on."

Simultaneously, as the dark road was lit up by my car's high beams, I had to slam on the brakes. Right in front of us was a fox crossing the road. A few seconds before his light brown, reddish fur and gray tail came into full view, God told me to turn on my high beams.
If I didn't listen right away, we would have undoubtedly hit the fox as he trotted across the road into the woods. In response to God's protection, I started praising Him. Praising God for warning me and shielding my family. I was overjoyed and grateful that I listened immediately to God's directives. I didn't ask for a reason (as I usually do). I didn't debate God (as I have the tendency to do). I didn't ignore the voice of God (as I've done many times in the past). I obeyed!
Although it didn't make sense that I needed to turn my high beams on while driving down a familiar road, I am thankful that I did. Many times in life, we think we know everything because of our experiences or education, but none of us know the future. We don't know what will happen next year, next week, or the next moment. Only God knows the future. Only God!
Turn your high beams on during your life's journey. There are many dangers ahead and without light (and the highest intensity of light), we will collide with someone or something. The devil will put foxes (i.e., destruction and cunning devices) in our paths to deter or destroy us. Turn your high beams on and listen to the voice of God without hesitation.
John 10:27 says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." Those who belong to Jesus recognize and respond to His voice. He knows His followers intimately, and they know Him. True followers of Jesus not only recognize His voice, but also follow His lead in complete obedience. Turn your high beams on!
